Inspiration From The Past // 1959

these days i'm working like a dog ... 10-15 hours a day. my feet are hurting like hell. so today i leave you with some gorgeous inspirations from the summer of '59. hope you enjoy!

Cats & Dogs

... this is what i wore to saturday's awesome flea market ... cardi: h&m // blouse: h&m // singlet: karstadt // vintage skirt: ebay // handmade belt: from istambul // shoes: bleyer, via flea market  // vintage hat: thrifted // straw bag: flea market // ring: hand me down from my aunt ... sadly it got quite chilly again so i had to wear three cardis and a scarf ...

the flea market was quite amazing ... actually this was one of the best flea markets ever if you're a vintage lover. i came home with some great early 60s dresses, a probably late 50s handmade dust coat, some shoes, some bags ... when i was half through the flea market i almost ran out of money ... i found an awesome 40s-60s fashion stall. i spent my last 5€ on  a high waisted fishtail skirt but i wasnt' able to get 8 fabulous 50s bags: straw bags, bamboo bags, wicker bags ... and dresses. some with stains, some seemed to be in a perfect condition ... but sadly there was no cent left in my purse. the bf and i went home to get some more money but when we jumped back in the car it started to rain cats and dogs (no, horses and elephants). luckily the seller told me that they want to do a garden flea market in may and i gave her my moblile number. hopefully she calls me - hopefully i won't have to work then ....

thank you, for your lovely wishes! for sure there will be some pictures from my holiday and wedding in the states. don't expect too much, it will be the tiniest wedding ever :)

Changes ...

dear readers, the past few weeks had been very rough  ... for sure the upcoming months will be the same ... big changes are going on in my little life ... i quit the job ... in a couple months we will move to another city ... soon we will visit the bf's family in seattle and we want to get married there. yes, the 'never-ever-marry-girl' finally gets married. ... in the picture a little sneak peek of my early 50s wedding gown ... hopefully the future husband stops cooking american style food, otherwise i won't fit in this dress anymore in june.

Flea Market Travellers ...

 

these are the finds i brought home from one of my fav flea market in my home town in early april ... i was so lucky to find this awesome 50s suitcase (5€) before it started to rain/snow - so i was able to take my new bargains home safely and dry ... i really love all these colourful souvenir-stickers on the suitcase ... those got so popular in the 50s when people started travelling in their holidays.

Office Girl ... Vintage Laptop Bag

the internet-account at my office computer broke (?), because of that i had to take my own laptop with me the past two weeks ...  so my vintage brief case got lucky to carry my laptop around the town ... my laptop fits in perfectly. great!

The Eccentric

 

... this is what i wore to pick up our new lovely hutch from 1957 for our living room - without the hat. ... cardi and blouse: h&m // vintage belt: thrifted // 90s skort (yes, it's a short): thrifted // vintage boots: ebay // 50s bag: flea market // vintage brooch: flea market ...

the thrifted 50s hat i added later to my outfit - after building up the hutch - for having a little walk and a beer ... the hat turns the quite comftable and cute looking outfit in a very eccentric look. actually i didn't thought about getting dolled up that much this day but i couldn't resist to add the perfectly matching blue of the hat to the blue of the outfit. better eccentric than boring.

About The Little Things ...

past saturday was the perfect day to find small but delecate and glamorous things ... we were lucky to be  able to go to three flea markets this day (one we just found per chance!). even it's still cold more and more non professionel sellers start to sell again and propably this fact made me find a bunch of 40s-50s-60s ear clips, brooches and necklaces for extremely little money. i really like the little golden evening bag and the blue painted straw bag - but i'm totally in love with these two reddish brown real leather specs cases from the 60s (first picture). 

... i still don't know what to keep in the blue box from the 50s. it's in a almost perfect condition ... maybe i can store my flimsy summer gloves in there ... or my newly found ear clips ...

Getrödelt, Gefunden, Gefreut ... Muff

in this months issue of Getrödelt, Gefunden, Gefreut i like to show you one of my fav recent finds. it's the perfect piece for a never ending winter and a perfect weapon against freezing fingers on a cold flea market on saturday morning ... a  muff. some weeks ago a found a brown one (2€) on the local flea market but i was actually looking for a nice black one that would fit my adored 50s coat. past weekend i found myself again bargaining with a flea market seller about lowering the prize of her astrachan/persian lamb muff but again she wanted too much. luckily on the same day i noticed almost the same muff on ebay. i won it for almost 10€ including shipping! doesn't it look nice as a simple handbag as well?

Little Sheep
