Winterboots Ruin Everything ...

this is what i wore this morning to another wintery visit to a flea market ... modern coat: from a traditional turkish fashion store // vintage muff-bag: flea market or ebay // cardi: primark // top h&m // 50s kitten skirt: flea market // super warm late 70s winter boots: flea market // beret: probably from a flea market ...

this morning i decided to take my warm, warm, warm 70s wedge boots out for a stroll over a couple of wintery outdoor flea markets. since a sneaking cold is trying to overtake my body, i felt like getting dressed as warm as possible ... these boots aren't beauties by far and i knew that before i put them on  today ... but i was really shocked when i saw the pictures on the computer later. ok, they still go quite ok with the coat  ... aaaah, but they totally ruin my casual stripy-kitty-cozy-almost-sick-look (which isn't too exciting anyhow)!!!!
funny, that i found a nie pair of warm lined 40s-50s lace up booties on the flea market today ... but if the bitter berlin cold comes to town i will go back to these super warm 70s boots again. i prefer to look silly than to freeze.

what kind of footwear do you wear with your vintage looks, when it's bitter cold outside?!

  1. Keeping my feet warm is honestly No.1 priority!! I have many, many pairs of boots, and the ones that aren't so warm I buy sheepskin liners for, and always wear thermal socks. My favourite boots have a heel, are knee-high and lace-up, and look quite Victorian. They go with my '50s full skirts, but also work well for '60s styles and at a pinch, 1940's ones.

I think you still look all kinds of fabulous!! x

  3. That's the joy of wearing psychedelic maxis, there's so much going on with the top bit nobody looks at your feet!
Those boots aren't as bad as you think and better to have cosy feet and look happy than be in pain with cold toes! x

  4. I admit that it's much harder to dress for winter than it is for summer! But I think you do a great job with those boots :) I bought the Gloria boots from Miss L Fire but they won't be very good if it snows!

  5. Sadly I do just the same ;) I prefer to be warm and cozy :) I wish I had boots from 40s-50s era... or at least warm look-a-likes ;)
Oh, by the way: I love your coat!

  7. I always love your post headings! yes winter boots do ruin everything I have learned to let them sneak into my vintage outfits and not pay too much attention to the sticking out. I would much rather be warm yours do look nicer then mine:)

  8. I think your boots look fine. I'm always a little self-conscious about my "cute" footwear vs. my "practical" stuff, but usually the pratical stuff doesn't look as bad as I feel like it does. I like your stripes and kittens, and the coat and muff combo are super cute. Congrats on the 40s boots, though! I would looooove to find something like that, but it's like they didn't even make shoes for my bit old feet back in the day.

  9. I think the boots work out just fine! But I understand your frustration.

Thankfully in Portland it never got horrifically cold, but sometimes I would wear tights and socks, then boots. So far in California I haven't had to worry too much!
