Paparazzi

This is what I wore last sunday to stroll over the flea market around the corner ... probably 90s does 40s dress: colours/kleidermarkt // tights: C&A (yes, they have a run ... grrrrh) // shoes: Deichmann // 50s wicker purse: flea market Boxhagener Platz, Berlin // 90s does 40s straw hat: flea market ... this new to me wicker/leather 50s purse I snapped up the flea market at Arkona Platz, Berlin. Yeah to green details!

I made a strange experience on past sunday ...
It was the first day of spring this year and I felt like celebrating the nice weather with getting all dolled up for the flea market  ... and I felt happy.  As many other vintage enthusiasts I'm kind of used to that people stop and stare. This sunday it was special ... quite a lot of people (tourists - flea markets here are filled with tourists) started to take photos of me without asking if it is ok. This really made me mad after a while! Probably this is part of the deal when you are the only clown in the circus ... Thanks to the nice french couple who asked nicely if they could take a picture (the were the only ones that asked). Hahaha, it was so strange to pose with strangers - but it made them happy and it was fun.
Now the next weekend is here and we are planning our new flea market visits ... this time I feel like going to an market in the outskirts of Berlin ... means less tourists and less cameras.

My dear gal,
If someone like you, spot in the middle of Berlin have such drama, can you imagine what kind of "clown effect" am I causing - being singled out as "the one with red lips" in my town? There's always a dose of unwanted attention... but, fold don't understand: you look the way you look because it's who you are - not to entertain them. Right? I know you might be quite angry, upset - and even maybe felt used. I'm sorry you had to go tru that. :(

On the bright side... I do get why they all wanted to snap a pic of you: you look amazing!

I get that, too! Sneaky people with their phones clicking when I'm least expecting it. I even had a man filming me dancing in a club last weekend.
Fab dress and gorgeous bags. xxx

You look amazing! I love that dress on you. UGH! People can be so rude. I usually have people ask me what "play (Broadway show)" I'm in and if I'm on a break. It's so irritating. I live in NYC and one would think that folks would be used to "rugged individualists" here. It's ALWAYS the tourists and often from the more rural States in the US.

That is such a weird experience, isn't it? I don't mind at all if people want to take my photo, I just wish they'd ask so that I could have a chance to actually face them and hopefully pose in a flattering way - blurry side or back angles rarely do anyone any favours!

What a fabulous outfit! You look as chic as the day is long.

Oh dear, that's a bit rude. They probably think you are part of the market or something. That is a lovely dress. You say it's 90s? It looks very 40s. I have a 40s blouse which was once a very similar dress to this, with a dropped pleated skirt. Someone chopped off half the skirt and ruined it but it makes a great blouse.

I understand why they wanted a picture of you!But the minimum is to ask permission...

Oh my oh my what an outfit!! I seriously love it - it's the perfect 40s ensemble and you look like you've transported right from the pre-war era!

What a fab frock, no wonder the paparazzi were after you!! Still, would have been polite to ask first... manners cost nothing!

Oh, that's really frustrating about all the sneaky photographs. They could at least ask you'd think!

But on the other hand, you do look fabulous and I love your dress. The trim around the neck and sleeves is really cute! ❤

I can also understand people wanting to photograph you in such a delicious outfit - I bet your hair and hat were a particular pull for the photographers! - but they must ask first. I love how every bit about your look comes together so well - perfect! Kx

At least they weren't asking you to pose a certain way too:) What a great outfit! I must admit if I saw you in a flea market I'd want to take your picture too, but I would be sure to ask:) I love this outfit and I especially love the bag too! I'm on the hunt for a bamboo handled purse but haven't quite found the one I like. I really like your outfit, it has a casual glamour quality about it. Beautiful!

Yes, I totally know that feeling! And it is certainly an awkward one!

This outfit is darling! It feels like a breath of summer!

It makes me soo uncomfortable when people take pictures without asking. I don't like people staring at me either just because I'm dressed up. You look absolutely gorgeous! Well done for having the confidence to rock your own style no matter what, I think it must put a lot of people off vintage.

You are amazing in every way. Your ensemble, poses, attitude, and of course, your hat. Thank you for sharing with Hat Attack!

I also love following you on Instagram. Great style!
