If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Fruit Salad

This what I wore on wednesday to pick up my results from the doctor ... 50s linen blouse: vintage yard sale // late 40s rayon skirt: Made In Berlin Store // belt: Primark // clogs: Swedish Hasbeens (got them on SALE) // 60s straw purse with fringe decoration: Pick&Weight Store Berlin ...

Everything in this outfit is brand new to me, except the yellow blouse ... As I was not able to go to the USA on vacation due to my 6-weeks-appendix-horror-story ... As soon as I was told by the doctors to get out of bed and move, I went vintage shopping. I really found some nice things on Bargain Tuesday at Made In Berlin Shop and it's new brother Pick & Weight, just down on Alte Schönhauser Strasse. The Swedish Hasbeen's I got at one of the hipster shops on Sale for 50% off.
Maybe I'm not in the States to do some shopping - but sometimes the city you live in surprises you with a basket full of vintage in every fruity summer colour you can think of ...

Inspirations From The Past // Late 40s

I haven't posted a IFTP-post for a while now. Not that I ran out of vintage magazines, I just didn't have the time to take pictures and edit photos. As my summer travelling plans are now cancelled due to my surgery from last week ...  I finally have plenty of time to work on way back planned and then abandoned posts like these.
Luckily I feel better everyday now and I feel strong enough to do a stroll to the kitchen on my own, warm some food and finish some computer work. Yeah! Tomorrow the doc will take out the stitches of my belly ... Blahblahblah. Hopefully I will be back on my feet soon.

I don't have many informations about the pictures from the fraction of a magazine I post today. It's  a more strange, uncomfortable and a bit embarrassing story behind it. This fraction was part of a collection of knitting patterns from 1935 up to the early 60s. My American husband found those on a local flea market.  Doesn't sound so special so far ... But the patterns and magazine parts were collected in a official office folder from the nazi era, with the topic -translated into English- saying: Public Supply. He bought it for 1€, because he wanted me to get the old patterns and he was so curious about the folder itself, as he is not good in speaking German, especially reading old German letters, he didn't know what he brought home.

But the crazy thing about it, is the actual person who stored patterns in this folder from probably the mid 30s up to the end of her life ... not caring about the actual history of this folder she kept her knitting inspirations in. Brrrrrhhh, shivers are running down my back.

We don't know anything about the history of this folder and we don't know what to do with it. We don't like to sell it, we don't want to keep it in our household and we don't want to through it away, because it's a piece of history ... The patterns are sitting with my other vintage fashion magazines and the folder is burried in the back of a cupboard.

The pictures out of this late 40s (maybe up to the earliest 50s) magazine are still absolutely adorable.

Little Red Hat

Finally I found a red straw hat. The world is almost perfect (for) now ... 40s bolero: eBay, came with a dress // late 50s dress: SchwarzeTruhe Berlin/Vintage Berlin // wedges: CCC // 50s straw hat: Sing Blackbird Vintage, Berlin // vitnage // wickerpurse: flea market // earrings: gift ...

I'm so busy right now ... I think, in my -more then 8 year old- blogging career, I never took that little outfit photos like I do right now. But maybe it's for good and you find here the more special ones ... and don't get bored with my daily office looks ...

Not that long ago, you saw me wearing this dress here and here .

Sweaty Sunday

This is what I wore to the flea market on a super hot sunday a couple of weeks ago ... 50s dress: eBay // vintage belt: flea market // sandals: ccc // 50s flowers pin: eBay // straw purse: flea market // 50s straw hat: eBay

Hahaha, the hairdo is more a leftover from the do the day before ... and if you look closely you might find some dark sweat stains on the dress. It was so hot that we decided not to sell on the flea market ourselves - I found more than our stall abandoned that day.
Two weeks later I found myself on the flea market with a blouse, a jacket and an umbrella ...What a summer!

Pink Sail Away

... Cardi and top: Primark //  50s sailor print skirt: Made in Berlin/Kleidermarkt // belt: thrifted // clark sandals: eBay // 50s fabric flowe buquet: eBay // anchor pendant: flea market ...

This fun novelty print skirt is more a project than a skirt ... but I had to get it, when it was still in the shop waiting for the right captain after weeks ... I had to fix quite a few things and when I finally ironed it, I found more and more a stains, that luckily blend in it's strange beige colour. Tu be true it is not a skirt, it is just a sea of stains with a sailor print on. Very matchy.
But - who could leave a little skirt with pink ships and anchors behind. Definitly not me. Ahoi.

Getrödelt, Gefunden, Gefreut ... Cityscape Novelty Skirt

English recap: following soon!
