Cutting It Short

this is what i wore a couple of days ago to work ... vintage knit dress worn as a top: thrifted // 50s skirt: made in berlin store // belt: mango // booties: clarks // bag: modern ...

who follows me on instagram might have seen already a little sneak peak of this outfit ... here it is in full size. sadly the little light that was left that day when i shot those pictures made them just blurry and furry. even if you can't see too much of the lovely details of this wonderful sweater ... i want to leave some words about it. this piece is actually an awesome wiggle knit dress made from wool and cashmere. ... perfect to go out in a cold wintery night. i always dreamed about wearing it to a new years eve dinner ... why didn't i? to be honest: my bum is far too fat for it. sad but true. so this dress was waiting in my closet for some better days ... or a diet. as i know that my wide hips won't ever dissapear and my bum won't turn smaller by getting older - i decided to give the dress a try as a top. the dress/skirt part is still there hidden under the  new look length skirt ... now i think of turning it into a real sweater.
what do you think?

Ich würde das Oberteil als Kleid lassen, da es dich in den kalten Monaten wärmt.

The dress as a top is gorgeous! I'd absolutely keep it as a top - the neckline is stunning!

Wunderhübscher Rock, ich liebe das Muster! So schön herbstlich! Und dein Pulli bzw. Strickkleid sieht auch sehr schön aus. Falls du es wirklich nicht als Kleid tragen möchtest ist das Umfunktionieren in einen richtigen Pullover doch eine prima Idee! :)

I think the outfit looks great, and I think turning the dress into a top would be a really smart thing to do. Those neckline details are really beautiful and flattering.
I'm right there with you on the hip thing. I can't tell you how many dresses I end up skipping because the top would fit, but the bottom is about 4 inches too small. But hey, butts are having kind of a moment right now, so there's that.

That's such a creative, pragmatic way to deal with a garment that's two small in some spots but not others. Way to think outside of the box (eerrr, closet?), dear gal. You look fantastic!

I really love how you wore this dress as a top! Such a creative way to get use out of an item that doesn't fit quite right. It's perfect as a top!

What an intelligent way to deal with a dress you love. If you hadn't mentioned it I'd have never known it was a dress.

That's a super clever idea! But don't forget there's always Spanx if you want to give it another go as a dress! x
